Meeting of the ad-hoc advisory group

During its meeting held on July 4, the ABACC’s Commission decided to summon an ad-hoc advisory group in order to analyze the safeguards approach for the commercial uranium enrichment plant of Indústrias Nucleares do Brasil (INB) that is under negotiations between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Brazil.

The ad-hoc group considered that the general guidelines, the criteria and the set of actions of the safeguards approach were appropriate and recommended to analyze the possibility of transmitting the “normal operation” signal of the surveillance systems in order to speed up the response in case of a failure. Additionally, the group advised to perform periodical reviews of the proposed actions.
